Laken Riley was discovered dead after a concerned friend reported to the University of Georgia police that she had not returned home from her morning jog. The police arrived at the location she was last seen on her jog and discovered her dead body.
The community was shocked and saddened by the news of her tragic death. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of her untimely passing.

Laken Riley biography and age
Laken Riley was a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student. She had attended UGA before enrolling in the Augusta University at Athens’ nursing program, where she was on the Dean’s List.
She is thought to have been killed and the University of Georgia Police Department has detained a suspect in connection with the crime. On 22 February 2024, the victim was discovered dead on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Although her injuries were evident, the officers were unable to find her pulse. Authorities said they were looking into her death as a homicide, but autopsy results were not yet available.
Her murder suspect
Jose Antonio Ibarra has been charged with very serious crimes, including malice murder, felony murder, and kidnapping. The UGA Police Chief revealed this information during a news briefing. It was also mentioned that the suspect is not a citizen of the United States.
During the early stages of the investigation, the police initially arrested and charged between three and four individuals; however, Ibarra was the only person they captured. Paul Mauro, a retired NYPD inspector,
“While the perpetrator’s legal status is unclear, if the Chief’s statement is accurate and that he is a Venezuelan migrant — potentially admitted under the continuing ‘special status’ program — it is past time to recognize the obvious: Maduro has taken a page from Castro’s book and is emptying his criminals into the U.S., and we are holding the door open for them.”
