Who is Grace Forrest?
Grace was born and grew up in Perth, Western Australia in 1994. She co-founded an organization called the Walk Free Foundation that is dedicated to putting an end to modern slavery. Grace is of Australian nationality. Grace is also the youngest Goodwill Ambassador for the UNAA and has given lectures on important global issues like fast fashion and socioeconomic inequality. She is involved in humanitarian work through her parents’ organization, the Minderoo Foundation, which focuses on philanthropy in modern times.
Grace was named Western Australia’s 2021 Young Australian Of The Year, had a period of five weeks where she couldn’t walk without the help of a walking frame. She is involved with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue and has been recognized as one of the ten global leaders in One Young World’s Young Leaders Against Sexual Violence initiative.
In 2020, Grace had a frightening accident while riding a watercraft with her partner in Indonesia. She was thrown 25 meters from a jet ski that was traveling at 70km/h, but miraculously she survived and doctors were amazed that she did not suffer permanent paralysis. Grace’s mother, Nicola, described it as the scariest moment of her life.
