Jessica Lange is an American actress. She is the 13th actress to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting, having won two Academy Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards , one Daytime Emmy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and one Screen Actors Guild Award. Additionally, she is the second actress in history to win an Academy Award for acting after winning a Golden Globe for the same role. Lange has also received the Prix d’interprétation féminine at the Cannes Film Festival, two Emmy Awards, and two Tony Awards throughout her career.
Lange was discovered by producer Dino De Laurentiis while modeling part-time for the Wilhelmina modelling agency. She made her professional film debut in his 1976 remake of the 1933 action-adventure classic King Kong, for which she won her first Golden Globe Award.
Additional film roles in the 1970s included The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Cape Fear (1991), and Frances (1982). She earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal of country singer Patsy Cline in Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980).
