Step 2: Tack Down The Edges
Tack down the edges of the laminate panels by hammering along them until they are secure enough so no movement will result when locked together with adjoining panels. Use a tape measure and a marker to mark the cut lines.
Step 3: Outlining
Use a straight edge to draw the template on the floor that will guide you in cutting out for an outlet or other irregular shape.

Step 4: Put Down Your Underlayment
Sometimes it is required by law, but underlayment is good not only because of its protective properties (it insulates and absorbs sound), but also because it adds some stability to your finished flooring panels.
If you are using plywood, make sure it has enough moisture before rolling it onto the floor (you can use a moisture meter). Use finishing nails with heads slightly larger than 1/8″ diameter to tack down your underlayment, spacing them every 6 inches along all edges and 8-10 inches along all intermediate framing members.
Step 5: Floor Leveling
Prepare a bucket with floor leveling compound and stir it until the air bubbles are out of it. Pour some of it onto a thin board or a scrap piece of laminate flooring, then spread it over the entire surface with a finishing pad (be careful not to damage your underlayment!).
Carefully move on to the next section, removing excess glued from between panels as you proceed by using your scraper tool – make sure there is at least 1/4″ space left after removing excess compound.
Then place your first piece down and align correctly using a tapping block and rubber mallet. Repeat this step for every single piece. Make sure you have all necessary equipment nearby – extra glue, extra panels and the correct tapping block.
Step 6: Finishing Touches The Flooring
Carefully remove all protective covering from your new laminate flooring and make sure no foreign objects like paper or string bits are stuck between them (remove all of them). You can also use a blower to dislodge particles.
Do not walk on your floor for 24-48 hours, but feel free to move everything back into the room. Now you can enjoy your newly installed laminate flooring!
If you follow these simple steps when installing laminate flooring in your home then everyone will envy that professional looking job. Not even a builder could match this perfect finish with such ease! Make sure you always read manufacturer instructions for installation properly before attempting any DIY projects.
