Lisa Bonet and her family moved to Marlow, Oklahoma when she was three years old and she grew up there. Bonet’s mother, Lucille (née Bowling), was a substitute teacher, and her father, Allen Bonet, was a musician. Bonet attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, where she met and befriended Sarah Jessica Parker.
At the age of 16, Bonet auditioned for a role on The Cosby Show; however, series creator Bill Cosby did not think that she was right for the part.
