Through her father, Carol Newcomb is descended from Mayflower passenger John Howland, and through this line, is the 13th generation of her family born in North America and the 14th generation to live in North America.

In January 2023, Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. The charges were dropped in April 2023 while an inquiry into the case was conducted.
