Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy trailers

West’s career is depicted in the Act 2 teaser. Ye, now more confident and eager to improve, is also seen with his mother Donda by his side. The Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy trailer focuses on Kanye West before he became a household name.

West even gets meta, as he introduces documentarian Clarence Coodie Simmons (who would move his whole life to capture West, an up-and-coming producer) to the cameras. We then see Kanye with his friends, including Ludacris.

The trailer zigzags across West’s life, repeatedly foreshadowing his divisive nature. Then we discover that West and Simmons have drifted apart, but they’re going to collaborate to tell his tale.

In January, Netflix debuted the first teaser for Jeen-yuhs, which is a compilation of 2002 footage in which Kanye describes his conflict with collaborator Rhymefest (also seen in the room). The debate, as you might expect, concerns whether or not Kanye is a genius; Rhymefest asks “Who are you to call yourself a genius?”)

The trailer then moves from Kanye’s life to his career, showing footage of him working with Pharrell Williams in the studio, jumping up and down with Kid Cudi at a party (when they still had conversations), and performing on stage at various shows. He closes it by stating that God may have given him the world, but he might also take it away.

The first look trailer for Jeen-yuhs was released in September 2021, and it begins with archival footage (again, from 2002) of Mos Def rapping his verse from Kanye West’s song “Two Words.”

Soon, West (then exclusively a producer) rhymes his lines, and it’s easy to detect his frustration at being overlooked. The pair shake hands as the trailer draws to a close.
