Martine McCutcheon is an American actress , singer and former model, who first gained prominence in the UK for starring in the British film ‘Love Actually’. She has also appeared in numerous stage musicals, most notably ‘My Fair Lady’, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination.
McCuthcheon was born in London to American parents, and raised in both London and Los Angeles. She began her career as a child model before making her acting debut in the early 1990s. She has since appeared in a number of films and television series, including ‘Midsomer Murders’, ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot’ and ‘EastEnders’.
In 2004, McCuthcheon released her debut album, ‘Lost and Found’. The album peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The debut studio album by MC McCutcheon, You Me & Us (1999), peaked at number two in the UK, with the title track topping out at number 6. The UK’s number one song “Perfect Moment” was released from this record; it also featured two more top 10 hits in “I’ve Got You” and “Talking in Your Sleep/Love Me,” which were both double-sided singles.
Wishing (2000) was less successful than its predecessor, although it did feature two UK top 10 singles: “I’m Over You” and “On the Radio.” The poor sales of her 2002 third studio album, Musicality (2002), resulted in the cancellation of her pop career.
In 2017, she released the album Lost and Found. Outside of music, McCutcheon remained active on television shows, movies, and stage plays in My Fair Lady, where her Eliza Doolittle performance earned her a Laurence Olivier Award in 2002.
