Why Was Matthew Fox Blacklisted In 2022?

Matthew Fox was one of television’s most well-known faces in the 1990s and again in the 2000s. He accomplished something that few actors ever achieve, which is to star in not one but two extremely successful primetime TV shows.

When the second of those shows ended in 2010, the formerly sought-after actor began dealing with personal issues. Matthew Fox’s bad reputation started to appear in tabloids, prompting many fans to be concerned about his fate. He announced an official sabbatical from Hollywood in 2015 and hasn’t appeared onscreen since. So, where is Matthew Fox now? Here’s what we found out. Why Was Matthew Fox Blacklisted In 2022?

Matthew Fox’s TV Career

Matthew Fox was born on July 14th, 1966, in a tiny Wyoming town. His father was a farmer who raised him and his two brothers on a rural, mid-of-nowhere ranch. “It took 17 miles of dirt road—17 miles!—just to get to the two-lane blacktop from there,” he told The Guardian in 2013. “And you had to go another 20 miles to find a village of 900 people.”

While loneliness unquestionably contributed to him desiring to be an actor, it didn’t prepare him for what stardom and celebrity might be like. “It works for and against me when it comes to what’s required of the complete package of being an actor,” he said. “I’m not very good at the emotional hoopla that comes with [fame]. I was always a dreamy kid.”

Fox moved to New York City to attend Columbia University, where he decided to give acting a go. He had a hard time breaking out of his shell because he was not naturally outgoing.

Fortunately, it wasn’t long until Fox landed his first role on Wings. This paved the way for a few more minor TV appearances before he was cast as Charlie Salinger in Party of Five.

Fox Was Accused Of Assault In 2012

Fox was regarded as well-liked by both fans and fellow actors during his time on Party of Five and Lost. Although he tried to avoid attention when possible, Fox was a frequent guest on talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he had no trouble poking fun at himself.

That cheerful disposition was severely harmed in 2012, when the Vantage Point star was accused of pummeling a lady over and over again every year because she would not let him board a private party bus in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fox was never arrested for the matter, and the woman’s civil lawsuit was eventually discontinued. Despite this, after the news media’s coverage of it, actor Dominic Monaghan made a stunning allegation about his former Lost co-star. “He abuses women. It isn’t unusual for him to do so,” Monaghan wrote on Twitter, alluding to Fox.

He Was Also Charged With A DUI

While Fox did not assault a woman, he broke the law by driving while intoxicated. The actor behind Alex Cross was charged with a DUI in May 2012 and later stated on Ellen that he regretted his error. “I was significantly embarrassed by it,” he added.

In an interview with Ellen, Fox also addressed the situation that took place on July 2 in Cleveland, when he allegedly punched a woman. He said that while a fight did erupt and that he was sucker-punched by a guy, the lady in question was not involved and simply attempting to capitalize on witnesses to the event.

When asked why he didn’t speak out sooner, Fox said that he did not want to get in the way of legal procedures. “I was going to allow the courts to handle it on that end, and then I knew there would be a time when I could tell the truth,” he added.
His Career Went On Hiatus In 2015

Despite the negative publicity and DUI, Fox appears in a few movies after the scandal, including Alex Cross, Emperor, World War Z, and Extinction. His last film, 2015’s Bone Tomahawk, was praised for its strong ensemble cast but didn’t do well at the box office. This is when Fox decided to take a break from big-screen acting; it seems he wasn’t pleased with the chances that were being offered to him.

Despite being known for his leading performances in films like Smokin’ Aces and World War Z, Alex Cross was a box office flop.

Fox Is Getting Ready For A Comeback In 2022

Fox may be feeling that his good fortune truly resides on the small screen, since he has decided to return to television after a decade-long absence. According to Variety, he’ll star and executive produce Last Light, a five-part miniseries based on Alex Scarrow’s best-selling book. The Netflix original is set to premiere on Peacock in 2022 and stars Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt, who plays a matriarch who fights to survive an impending worldwide calamity.
