Michael Mina Biography
In May 5 1969, Michael Mina was born in Egypt and later immigrated to the United States. He was raised in Ellensburg, Washington, before becoming famous as a chef. Andre Agassi and Michael Mina met in his restaurant in San Francisco in 2002 and they joined forces to open Nobhill and Seablue restaurants in Las Vegas under the Mina Group.
In his hometown, Mina began working in a French kitchen when he was 16 years old. After high school, Mina attended the University of Washington and worked in the restaurant at the Space Needle, where he gained his first experience working in a busy restaurant. After one year, he left the Culinary Institute of America for New York’s Culinary Institute of America.

He began her career in Los Angeles in 1988 at the Bel Air Hotel with Executive Chef George Morrone. Mina and Morrone moved to San Francisco in 1990 to assist Aqua. Following the departure of George Morrone from Aqua, Mina became its executive chef and received numerous awards and accolades.
A restaurant named RN74 in San Francisco was opened in 2009 by Mina, which is named for the Route Nationale 74 that passes through Burgundy, France. In 2010, Mina’s San Francisco restaurant, Michael Mina, was demoted to one Michelin star and then excluded from the Michelin Guide altogether for 2011. In 2012, it was reinstated with one Michelin star on the Michelin Guide.
