On TikTok today, gymnast Olivia Dunne left fans confused after she joked that she was preparing for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Now people are wondering why Olivia Dunne will not be in the Tokyo Games in 2021.

Who is Olivia Dunne?

Olivia Dunne, who goes by Livvy Dunne on social media, is an 18-year-old gymnast best recognized for representing the US junior national squad in 2017. In recent years, Dunne has enrolled at Louisiana State University and begun his collegiate career as a college athlete. He accepted a full athletic scholarship from the university in 2017.

She has a large social media following and is known for it. She currently boasts over 1.1 million Instagram followers, as well as 3.9 million TikTok followers. On Twitter, she has nearly 2 million followers.

The gymnast left her followers perplexed when she wrote on her latest TikTok that she was preparing for the Tokyo Olympics. Dunne captioned the post: “Before I go to Tokyo, some training clips!” Having exchanged the padded floors of her gymnastics training room for the beach, she added: “Before I go to Tokyo, here’s a few exercises!”

However, this is not the first time that the world-famous gymnast has jested about competing in the 2021 Olympic Games on social media. Last month, she posted a compilation video of her gymnastic errors with the message: “Tokyo 2021 her I come!” With over 8 million views and almost 1.5 million likes on TikTok, the clip has gone viral.

This past Sunday, Dunne clarified that she would not be participating in this years Olympic Games since she lip-synced the popular TikTok sound Nobody by Mitski.

On Sunday, June 27, the Tokyo 2020 gymnastic team was revealed during the US Olympic trials in St. Louis. It was confirmed at the time that Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum, and MyKayla Skinner would be representing the United States in October.
