As Robyn explained in a 2016 interview with Vice, her parents have been together for decades. “My parents have been together since they were 17, and I think that their relationship is one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever seen,” she said. “They’re just so solid and happy.”
Gladys (aka Gigi) is a businesswoman and former college professor, while Guy is a retired dentist, jazz musician, and the co-founder of the Sterling Silver Jazz Quintet.
Robyn credits her parents for instilling in her a love of music and art. “I think they just kind of showed me that it was possible to be creative and make a living out of it,” she told Vice. “So it was never really a question for me whether or not I was going to pursue a creative path.”
Robyn grew up in Stockholm, Sweden, and began her musical career as a teenager. She released her first album, Robyn Is Here, in 1995, when she was just 16 years old. The album was a success in Sweden, and Robyn soon became a pop star in her home country.
“When I met him, it was shocking to me that somebody my age had already experienced so much. My father is a dentist and my mother is a business owner and college professor, and they’ve been married for 43 years; my life was completely different. I was so touched by his experiences,” Robyn told Vice.
The couple has also been featured on The Real Housewives of Potomac numerous times throughout the show’s previous seasons. Guy has appeared in around 11 episodes, while Gladys has starred in at least 20.
