Stacey Abrams, an American politician, lawyer, and author who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2006 to 2017, as well as as minority leader from 2011 to 2017. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was its gubernatorial candidate in 2018 in Georgia, but she lost to Brian Kemp.
She was also the first African-American female major-party gubernatorial nominee of the United States. In February 2019, she became the first African-American woman to respond to the State of the Union address as a member of both houses.
