A Love Other Than Yours Episode 3 Recap

Warning: This article contains spoilers for A Love Other Than Yours Season 1, Episode 3.

A Love Other Than Yours Episode 3 takes Nam-gung Ho and Lee Mi-do’s relationship in a surprising direction. After spending ten years together and deciding to separate, the two suddenly begin talking about marriage. But getting back together does not magically solve the problems that pushed them apart.

The episode, titled “Can We Feel That Spark Again?”, aired on September 19, 2026, and runs for around 64 minutes. The KBS2 drama stars Seo Kang-joon as Nam-gung Ho and Ahn Eun-jin as Lee Mi-do. The series follows a couple whose long relationship has become comfortable but has lost some of its excitement.

A Love Other Than Yours Episode 3: What Happens?

Episode 3 begins with a major surprise. Nam-gung asks Mi-do to marry him. Instead of giving him an immediate answer, Mi-do starts hiccupping. The moment is funny on the surface, but it also fits the strange emotional state both characters are in.

Mi-do is still thinking about what her life would look like without Nam-gung. Her collection of comic books becomes a small reminder of their relationship. One book is missing, making her wonder whether she can really continue without all the chapters of her life that she shared with him.

Nam-gung, meanwhile, still has the engagement ring he originally planned to give Mi-do. There is an amusing detail behind it: he actually retrieved the ring from the trash.

The couple later attend the memorial ceremony for Mi-do’s father. Mi-do normally avoids the event, but this time she arrives with books that belonged to her father. During dinner, she and Nam-gung announce that they are getting married.

Mi-do Wants Their Old Spark Back

Getting engaged does not mean their relationship has suddenly returned to the way it was before.

While spending time with Nam-gung, Mi-do admits that she wants to feel the spark between them again. She tries to bring some romance back into their relationship, but they are interrupted by Nam-gung’s work.

Later, the two go out for a proper date and enjoy themselves at a restaurant. They return to a hotel, but the evening takes another unexpected turn when Mi-do becomes sick. At the hospital, the doctor says that her condition appears to be related to indigestion and stress.

The scene is important because the problem between them is no longer just about whether they love each other. Mi-do is struggling with a wider sense of emptiness. At one point, she realizes that she cannot remember the last time something genuinely made her heart race. It is not only her relationship that seems to have lost its spark; her passion for life and work appears to have faded too.

Nam-gung and Su-a’s Mystery

Nam-gung’s workplace storyline becomes more complicated when Park Su-a is transferred to his team.

Su-a is investigating a suspicious incident involving a switch in sweet potatoes and wants to understand when and where the change is taking place. She has a practical reason for joining Nam-gung’s team: she wants access to the sample-processing schedule.

Nam-gung does not want his team dragged into the investigation, so he refuses to cooperate with her. He even gives her difficult work at the potato factory in an attempt to keep her busy.

However, Su-a discovers that tracking the transport driver’s GPS could help reveal where the switch is happening. When she secretly checks the truck, she finds Nam-gung there doing essentially the same investigation.

There is also a small but important clue about their history. During dinner, Su-a questions Nam-gung, and he calls her by the name Deok-sun rather than Su-a. This raises the possibility that the two knew each other much earlier than the current story has revealed.

Tae-seung and Mi-do’s Dangerous Situation

Mi-do’s relationship with lawyer Han Tae-seung becomes even more complicated in this episode.

Tae-seung is still trying to get Mi-do to accept a settlement connected to her troubled film project. He also wants access to her cloud account because there may be important material connected to the case.

Meanwhile, Mi-do visits her mother’s rooftop studio while the building is being cleared out. The place brings back memories of the happier years she spent with Nam-gung.

Then the situation suddenly becomes dangerous. A large shelf falls and traps Mi-do inside the studio. Tae-seung happens to call her and realizes that she needs help.

At first, Tae-seung refuses to help unless Mi-do agrees to his demands. She refuses and decides she would rather wait for someone else. But when he returns and sees her crying, he finally gives in and lifts the shelf.

The danger does not end there. A lamp falls, and Tae-seung protects Mi-do with his body, injuring his hand in the process.

Mi-do Refuses to Back Down

Even after helping her, Tae-seung continues pushing the settlement issue. He offers to help Mi-do get her directing job back if she agrees to compromise.

Mi-do refuses.

She has also done her homework on Tae-seung and knows about the work he does for his boss, Ju-hyeok. She openly challenges him, even comparing him to someone who simply follows orders.

The argument shows why their scenes are different from the softer relationship between Mi-do and Nam-gung. There is anger, tension and attraction mixed together, and neither character seems willing to completely give ground.

The Ending: Two Mysterious Text Messages

The episode ends by putting the main relationship back under pressure.

After Mi-do and Nam-gung sleep together, Nam-gung notices that her hiccups have finally stopped. It is a small moment, but it suggests that something has changed between them.

Then both characters receive messages.

Nam-gung gets a text from Su-a, while Mi-do receives one from Tae-seung.

The episode does not give the audience enough information to know exactly where these conversations will lead. But the timing is important. Just as Nam-gung and Mi-do are trying to rebuild their relationship, the two people around them are becoming increasingly involved in their lives.

What Does Episode 3 Mean for Nam-gung and Mi-do?

The biggest idea in Episode 3 is that getting back together is much easier than fixing a relationship.

Nam-gung and Mi-do still care about each other. Their history is also much deeper than a normal long-term romance. They grew up knowing each other, spent years together and became part of each other’s families.

But familiarity can work in two ways. It can create security, or it can make a relationship feel routine.

That is why Mi-do’s comment about wanting to feel the “spark” again matters. She is not simply asking whether Nam-gung loves her. She is wondering whether their relationship can still make them feel alive.

The episode also connects that question to Mi-do’s career and personal life. Her lost enthusiasm is not limited to romance. She seems to be searching for something that can make her feel excited again.

Why the Episode Feels Different

Episode 3 moves away from the quieter breakup story and starts bringing in more melodrama.

The workplace investigation involving potatoes and the scenes between Nam-gung and Su-a add a lighter, almost comedic side to the episode. In contrast, Mi-do and Tae-seung’s storyline is much more intense.

The result is an episode that moves between romance, comedy, workplace mystery and melodrama. Some of these pieces work better than others, but they clearly set up several conflicts for the episodes ahead.

The strongest part remains the central relationship. Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin bring a natural familiarity to Nam-gung and Mi-do, which makes their scenes together feel like those of two people who have genuinely known each other for years.
