In 2022, Netflix has a somewhat poor reputation for being quick to cancel television programs, and the streamer does not appear to be changing that in the near future. After revealing two cancellations last month, the next original series scheduled for axe-murderer is now known.
Another Life won’t get another chance to grow a larger audience, as the series is now officially concluded after two seasons. According to series star Katee Sackhoff on Twitter, the news was confirmed when she wrote: “I’d like to thank everyone who watched Another Lives and say that I’m sorry we couldn’t do more seasons but sadly it’s not in the cards.” Another Life Cancelled For Season 3: Netflix Confirms The News Officially.

Another Life Cancelled For Season 3
The television show was based on The Genesis Code, a high-concept book written by Aaron Martin. It followed astronaut Niko Breckinridge (Sackhoff) as she led a daring crew on a quest across the cosmos to discover the source of an alien artefact that had been discovered on Earth.
Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson, and Elizabeth Faith Ludlow also starred in the series. Aaron Martin is both the showrunner and writer of anthology horror series Slasher, which was just renewed for its fifth season earlier this month.
Given that season two hasn’t aired yet and the show already has a large, dedicated following on social media, it should be no surprise that Netflix’s marketing push for the program was successful.
Evidently, however, the failure to gain much traction despite having several high-profile actors in the cast is due to its heavy use of effects. Sackhoff is a sci-fi veteran who previously appeared in Battlestar Galactica and voiced a character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before joining Netflix’s Altered Carbon.
Another Life has an excellent cast and a strong, original story to back it up. However, despite all of these considerations, the show concludes with 20 episodes across two seasons, with a poor critical reception.
With a rotten Tomatometer score of just 6% for the series’ first season on Rotten Tomatoes, and an audience approval rating much higher at 69%, things don’t appear to be going well for Another Life. Unfortunately, Netflix did not renew the program after seeing such a positive audience response.
The chances of Another Life returning have appeared to be slim for a while now. Netflix was mostly silent on the show’s performance when season two came out last October, which is never a good sign.
Netflix is generally vocal about its successes, but it is quieter when it comes to programs that underperform. Sackhoff quipped on social media that Netflix never allows a show to go past a third season in December, a jab that appears rather pointed at the moment.
Another One Bites The Dust
In 2022, Another Life will not be the first Netflix original program to get canceled. It’s unlikely to be the last either. When it comes to axing uninteresting series, Netflix is known for being ruthless.
It’s a given that Netflix releases a lot of material each year, but it’s still inconvenient for subscribers to deal with. Our advice is to avoid becoming too attached to a Netflix original series.
At the end of the day, we think Netflix is still one of the finest streaming services available, and to be honest, few people will be disappointed with Another Life’s cancellation. It’s never pleasant to see a show canceled, especially when the creators seem to have more stories to tell.
Yellowstone Season 5 Is Confirmed: What We Know So Far
Netflix viewers interested in science fiction may at least take some solace in the fact that Stranger Things season 4 will premiere this Spring. The series will be divided into two volumes, with volume 1 premiering May 27 and volume 2 following shortly after on July 1.
