After over 80 days of searching, authorities recovered a body thought to be that of Brendan Santo, a Grand Valley State University (GVSU) student who went missing.
It was discovered in the Red Cedar River at noon on Friday, about one mile from where Santo disappeared. Even though the family verified on social media that the body found is actually Santo, Michigan State University (MSU) cops said that confirmation is still pending.

Brendan Santo vanished in late-October: Santo, 18, vanished on October 29 while visiting his friends in East Lansing, Michigan for the Michigan Wolverines vs Michigan State Spartans football game.
The reward for any information leading to finiding the missing student grew to more than $30,000 as multiple agencies helped the family and volunteer civilians in the search for Santo.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to the Santo family and all those who knew Brendan,” said Michigan State University Police Department (MSUPD) spokesperson Chris Rozman in a statement.
Brendan Santo Found Dead
Investigations of the details and circumstances surrounding Santo’s disappearance is still ongoing, according to Rozman. The MSUPD announced that none of the teen’s personal items were recovered before Friday.
“We still have no reason to believe that foul play is involved, or that Brendon intended to harm himself,” Rozman added.
