Bishop Dag Heward Mills, the son of Bishop Dag Heward Mills, died at age 31 on April 15, 2022. The illness that caused his death is thought to be a hazardous short-term ailment; however, the condition has not been specified. The Lighthouse Chapel International, which was established by his father Bishop Dag, informed churchgoers of the tragedy. The statement reads, “We regret to inform you of the untimely death of David, who passed away after a brief illness. David was the first son of our Founder and Presiding Bishop, Adelaide Heward-Mills, and Episcopal Sister Adelaide Heward-Mills.”
The statement continued, “We, too, as a church are devastated, but we stand with our pastor and his family in the hope that God will comfort and guide us through this terrible time. David was a Medical Doctor who worked and resided in the United States. The text continues, “We, too, as a Christian community are shocked and saddened by these events. We do so trusting that God will comfort and lead us during this difficult period.” David worked as a resident physician at Prisma Health Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Dr. Willard has worked as a medical doctor for Piedmont Healthcare in Athens, Georgia, since July 2019. For the last five years, he has been a part-time lead director at the National Alliance for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery. He was also a researcher with Shriners Hospitals for Children – Galveston during that time.
Dr. David completed his Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Georgia from 2019 to 2020. Dr. David obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ukraine’s National Pirogov Memorial Medical University in Vinnytsya. He is considered a strong individual for going to the combined service near Independence Square on Good Friday, the day of the tragic event.
