Drawn Together Ending Explained What Happens to Marfil and Sebastián

Drawn Together (2026) also known as Enfrentados: Marfil is a romantic thriller based on Mercedes Ron’s novel Marfil. The Prime Video film follows Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a wealthy Spanish businessman, after a mysterious kidnapping changes her life. Her father hires Sebastián Moore as her bodyguard, but their relationship becomes complicated when Marfil discovers that Sebastián has been hiding a major secret.

Spoilers ahead. The ending of Drawn Together does not give Marfil and Sebastián a clean resolution. Instead, it reveals Sebastián’s real identity, exposes a betrayal within Marfil’s family, and ends with Marfil being kidnapped again.

What Is Drawn Together About?

Marfil Cortés appears to have a comfortable life in New York, but that changes after she is kidnapped and later released without a clear explanation. Her father, Alejandro Cortés, responds by hiring Sebastián Moore to protect her.

At first, Sebastián is simply the serious bodyguard who keeps Marfil safe. Their relationship slowly changes, however, and the two develop feelings for each other. Marfil begins to trust him even though she senses that he is keeping things from her.

The mystery becomes larger when Marfil travels to Spain and starts learning more about her father’s past. Her family is connected to dangerous people, and Marcus Kozel, an old enemy of Alejandro, becomes an important part of the story.

Meanwhile, Marfil’s missing memories from her first kidnapping become more important. What happened to her was not as simple as she believed.

Who Is Sebastián Really?

The biggest twist is that Sebastián is not actually working as a normal private bodyguard.

He is an FBI agent working undercover, and Ray is his partner. The first kidnapping was connected to their operation. They wanted to put pressure on Alejandro and get closer to the criminal activity surrounding him.

This revelation changes Marfil’s feelings about Sebastián. The romance between them was real, but the relationship began with a lie. Sebastián had entered her life because of his investigation, not simply because he had been hired to protect her.

That is what makes the betrayal hurt so much for Marfil. She cannot simply decide that everything between them was fake. Her feelings for him are real, but so was his deception.

What Happens to Alejandro?

As the story moves toward its final act, Alejandro’s plans begin to collapse.

He is trying to protect his family and escape the danger surrounding them. The plan involves leaving for Buenos Aires under witness protection. But someone close to the family is working against him.

Logan, Alejandro’s longtime right-hand man, betrays him and helps Marfil’s enemies. This allows Marfil to be taken without Sebastián realizing exactly where she has gone.

When Sebastián reaches the parking garage, he finds Alejandro’s dead body in the trunk of a car. By then, Marfil has already been taken away.

Who Kidnaps Marfil at the End?

The person waiting for Marfil is Iván, also connected to Kozel.

Earlier, Marfil had met him at a horse-racing event. She did not realize that the friendly man she had met was connected to the dangerous world surrounding her father.

Marfil is led to believe that she is going to meet her father. Instead, Logan takes her to a parking garage, where Iván is waiting.

Sebastián already suspects something is wrong. He gives Marfil a small listening device hidden inside a necklace and tells her to use a code word if she is in danger.

Marfil eventually realizes that she has been trapped. She says the code word, “ébano”, but Iván discovers the listening device and throws the necklace out of the car.

By the time Sebastián reaches the location, Marfil is gone.

Is Marfil Dead at the End of Drawn Together?

No. Marfil is not shown dying at the end of the film.

The ending is a kidnapping cliffhanger rather than a confirmed death. Marfil is taken away by Iván, while Sebastián is left behind after discovering Alejandro’s body and facing armed men.

So the final scene does not mean that Marfil has been killed. Her story is simply left unfinished so it can continue in the sequel.

Why Does Drawn Together End Like This?

The ending makes sense because Drawn Together is the first part of Mercedes Ron’s Enfrentados story. Prime Video has announced a follow-up, Drawn Apart, based on the second book, Ébano.

Instead of solving every mystery, the movie leaves its main characters in difficult positions. Marfil has been kidnapped again, Sebastián has lost her, Alejandro is dead, and the truth about Sebastián’s work has damaged their relationship.

That gives the sequel several problems to deal with at once: Marfil’s safety, Sebastián’s attempt to find her, the consequences of Alejandro’s past, and whether Marfil can ever trust Sebastián again.

Does Marfil Still Love Sebastián?

Marfil is angry and hurt after learning the truth about Sebastián, but her feelings for him do not simply disappear.

That is one of the main emotional conflicts at the end. Sebastián lied to her because he was working undercover, yet the connection between them was not necessarily fake. The film keeps those two ideas together rather than giving Marfil an easy answer.

Ester Expósito has also explained that Marfil has not completely forgiven Sebastián by the end, even though her feelings for him remain strong.

How Is the Movie Different From the Book?

The movie makes some major changes to Sebastián’s character and the final events.

In Mercedes Ron’s book, Sebastián is not an undercover FBI agent. His connection to Alejandro is very different, and the story’s conflict with the Russian mob develops in another direction. The book also ends with Marfil being pushed toward Marcus Kozel’s protection, leaving her feeling betrayed by Sebastián.

The film therefore takes the basic characters and relationship from the novel but changes important parts of the plot. This means readers of the book should not assume that the sequel will follow the novel scene by scene.

What Does the Ending Mean?

The final kidnapping is more than just another action scene. It shows how little control Marfil has over the world around her.

At the beginning, she believes her biggest problem is recovering from a kidnapping she cannot remember. By the end, she has discovered that her father has dangerous enemies, someone inside the family has betrayed them, and the man she loves has been investigating her father from the start.

Marfil is therefore left without the security she thought she had. Even Sebastián, who was supposed to protect her, becomes part of the complicated truth she has to deal with.
