Nicholas Scott Cannon is an American television presenter, rapper, actor, and comedian. Starting as a youngster on All That, he went on to host The Nick Cannon Show, Wild ‘n Out, America’s Got Talent, Lip Sync Battle Shorties, and The Masked Singer in television. He appeared in the films Drumline, Love Don’t Cost a Thing , and Roll Bounce.
As a rapper, he released his debut self-titled album in 2003, with the single “Gigolo,” which featured R. Kelly. In 2007, he starred in Goal II: Living the Dream as TJ Harper, a fictitious football player. Cannon recorded the songs “Dime Piece” and “My Wife” for an as-yet-unreleased Stages album in 2006. Where Is Nick Cannon From?
Cannon was born on October 8, 1980, in San Diego, California. Cannon’s father called his paternal grandfather “dad,” and he himself referred to him as “grandfather.”
Cannon grew up in Lincoln Park’s Bay Vista Housing Projects, which is a gang-infested area of Southeast San Diego. He said he quit being a member of the “Lincoln Park Bloods” street gang when he lost a close friend while in his teenage years.
He is of African-American and Native American descent. In 1998, he completed high school at Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, where he was the president of the African Student Coalition and participated in track and field.
Cannon began doing stand-up comedy on his father’s local cable access program as a break.

On January 4, 2012, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment of “mild kidney failure,” and on February 17, following a pulmonary embolism.
He revealed in March that his kidney problems were caused by lupus nephritis.
