Adele also states: “I know there is hope in these waters,” alluding to the fact that she knows she will be happy again in the future. She sings about herself and her ex-husband being “so firmly entrenched in our patterns” and how she “tried” but ultimately “gave up” trying to make their relationship work because it was holding her back from reaching her own goals.
