Joo Won aka Moon Jun-won, rose to fame in 2013 after playing the lead role in the hit period drama “King of Baking, Kim Takgu”. Joo Won was born in Seoul, South Korea, on September 30, 1987. Upon graduation from Kaywon High School of Arts, he attended Sungkyunkwan University to study Theatre and Arts. At the 2014 KBS Drama Awards, he won the Popularity Award, Actor. Kim Tae-hee and Joo starred together in Yong-pal in 2015. During the second Asian Influence Awards Oriental Ceremony held in China on November 3, 2015, Joo received the award for “Most Welcomed Actor.”. Joo will appear in Alice, a science fiction romance drama on SBS in 2020. He will play the title role in Netflix’s Carter in 2022.

On May 16, 2017, Joo Won began his mandatory military service. While serving in the military, Joo Won hosted the Armed Forces Festival 2017. After completing 21 months of military service, Joo Won was discharged from the military on February 5, 2019.
