Karan Kate Blackwell is 74 years old when she died. She was the daughter of Excell Blackwell, a talented musician. Her mother, Ina Rie Napier Blackwell, was an avid reader and gardener. Blackwell explained that her mother enjoyed preserving food and canning it, milking cows and making butter.
At the age of five, Karen Kate Blackwell began singing in a church. At the age of nine, she began playing piano in the church. After graduating from Ellisville High School in 1959, Blackwell enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi. Whitewell stopped her studies to pursue her dreams of being a singer and musician.
Throughout her career, Karon has worked in nightclubs and showrooms throughout the country. She has appeared in national television shows including The Tonight Show, Regis Philbin Show, and Hour Magazine.
