On October 17, 2015, he sparred with Terrel Williams in an undercard bout at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia. Both boxers were penalized for nine rounds during the fight. In the ninth round, Williams knocked Prichard down twice and did not return for the tenth.
On May 8, 2016, Barrera and Colon met in the ring for a WBA lightweight title bout at 10 rounds. After the fight, Colón was vomiting and taken to the hospital. A hemorrhage was discovered in his brain. Prichard entered a coma as a result of the injury. He was cared for at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia for several weeks before being transferred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
After being in a coma for 221 days, since his bout, Colón was transferred from the hospital to his mother’s home in Orlando, Florida. In July 2018, Colon’s mother published a video on her Facebook page showing him undergoing physical therapy.
