Yellowstone Season 5 Is Confirmed: What We Know So Far

Yellowstone season 5 is confirmed: Everything we know so far: We know Yellowstone season 5 is coming, because writer and series creator Taylor Sheridan says so. In fact, he’s been saying it for a good three years now. In 2019, we’ll finally get to see if his words hold true. But what do we really know about the next chapter in this storied saga?

The following information has been carefully researched and compiled with input from knowledgeable sources at Paramount TV and Paramount Network. There are few things left uncovered here but some of these details are still unconfirmed so bear that in mind while you’re reading! We will continue to update this article as new information comes our way. Bear McCreary (showrunner) will replace Kevin Kay (former president of Paramount Network) at the helm for season 5.

Josh Duhamel and Luke Grimes will direct episodes in season 5 — we don’t know how many at the moment, but we do know they’ll be back.

The entire main cast (Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser and Breckenridge) have been contracted for another year of Yellowstone . This also includes the likes of Danny Huston , Gil Birmingham , Josh Lucas and Jefferson White. However it’s unlikely that any of them will survive to embark on a sixth season as everyone is quite mortal on this show! In fact there were reports last year that said some characters would not make it to the new installment so if one or two mofos didn’t bite the bullet in season 4, they might be safe for another year.

Yellowstone season 5 release date speculation

It’s likely that Yellowstone season 5 will take up the mantle of “most epic-looking Western TV show ever” in 2019. Some might argue this position is already occupied by HBO’s Westworld (even if it isn’t set in the past). The thing with Westworld though is that it doesn’t feel like a historical drama, even when stuff looks old or worn out. It all feels very modern and pristine because, well, it isn’t. So what sets Yellowstone apart from other period pieces?

For one, its locations are real-life shooting locations for iconic films starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. This means they aren’t really “old west” settings but movie westerns brought to life – albeit on a lesser budget than their big-screen counterparts.

At the same time, Yellowstone is shot in lush CinemaScope requiring extreme wide shots to capture its grandeur. Whether you’re watching the opening credits or just another episode of Yellowstone , you’ll very likely take note that it looks like an epic film more than an ambitious TV show.

Because of this, it may be destined to become one of 2019’s most lavish productions! At present, there’s no official word on when exactly we can expect season 5 but Paramount Network President Kevin Kay said back in May 2018 that it would return by the end of 2019 – if not early 2020. That would make sense considering filming began last June and will conclude next month around December 15th (more on that later).

Yellowstone season 5 cast

While the cast list for Yellowstone season 5 has not yet been released, we may anticipate most of the major players to return. Of course, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton is at the top of the list as the patriarch of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

The following are the actors who portray John’s children: Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, John’s son, a former US Navy SEAL, and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, John’s daughter and a financier; and Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton, John’s adoptive son and an attorney and aspiring politician.
