Meet Kate McKinnon
McKinnon was raised in Long Island and took an interest in accents and humor early on. She studied theatre at Columbia University and received a degree. While she was there, she started an improvisation comedy group and performed in several variety shows. She collaborated with Jenny Slate and Greta Gerwig to mention a few others on these programs.
Meet Bari Weiss
Bari Weiss and McKinnon had a tumultuous relationship throughout her time at Columbia. Weiss grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Columbia at the same time as Meghan McCain. She also happened to be there at the same time as Meghan McCain while they attended School With A View together.
Even in college, Weiss was involved in a number of disputes. She co-founded Columbians for Academic Freedom, a group of Jewish students who felt intimidated by pro-Palestinian professors, and The Current magazine, which focused on politics and Jewish issues.
After college, Weiss worked at the Wall Street Journal and then shifted to the New York Times with editor Bret Stephens. In 2019, Weiss published How to Fight Anti-Semitism, in which she describes left-wing, right-wing, and Islamic types of antisemitism. The book was highly controversial.

Weiss is a polarizing figure. She enrages both the left and the right on a regular basis. In 2021, she generated a tsunami of criticism when she informed Bill Maher that she was “done with COVID.” Weiss felt that the continuing pandemic restrictions were too harsh, and her critics accused her of being elitist and immature.
Elizabeth Warren has been called out by the political right for her frequent claims that Donald Trump is a bigot. In 2020, she resigned from the New York Times due to Twitter’s influence on the newspaper. Ben Shapiro and Bill Maher praised her resignation.
What Does Weiss Think Of McKinnon
In 2019, Weiss sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair, where she was asked about her relationship with McKinnon. “I’ve been in love with both men and women,” she said. Both men and women have ghosted on me… I don’t do it for political purposes or to promote my sexual identity.
“I don’t think that’s cool. It isn’t my style.” Weiss wants to make a name for herself beyond her sexual orientation. McKinnon is already a pretty private individual, with no social media presence to speak of. She hasn’t talked much about Weiss, who has married three times since college. Given that Weiss has remarried several times since then, it’s reasonable to assume she’s moved on.
