In July 1968, Brooker married Françoise Riedo (“Franky”), a Swiss au pair, who had previously lived in the same village as him. The couple did not have children.
In November 2014, it was reported that Brooker is headlining a charity concert to raise funds for Save the Children, alongside George Michael and Emeli Sandé.

Gary Brooker Personal Life
In 2005, Matthew Fisher, a former Procol Harum organist, sued Gary Brooker and his record label in the High Court of England and Wales. He claimed that he co-wrote the music for the song.
John Fisher won his lawsuit against the four composers on December 20, 2006, but he was granted 40% of the music copyright’s share instead of 50%, and he was not given royalties for the period before 2005.
The artist’s family comes from Hackney, where he was born on May 29, 1945. Brooker grew up in Hackney before the family moved to Middlesex (Bush Hill Park and then to Edmonton).
Harry Brooker was a professional musician who played pedal steel guitar with Felix Mendelssohn’s Hawaiian Serenaders and taught his son piano, cornet, and trombone when he was a child.
The Brookers settled in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in 1954, where Gary was educated at Westcliff High School for Boys. His father died of a heart attack when Gary was 11 years old, forcing his mother to work to make ends meet.
He dropped out of Southend Municipal College and studied zoology and botany before quitting to pursue a career as a professional musician.
